Pizza Dough Recipe |
This pizza crust recipe is easy and quick; it takes about ½ hour to get it into the oven.
I found it years ago on the back of a bag of Pillsbury flour! I use it for pizzas, breadsticks, and calzones.
This recipe will make one 12-inch pizza or 2 calzones.
Ingredients:
2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 package quick-rising yeast (1/4 oz. package)
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup very warm water (120° to 130°F)
2 Tablespoons cooking oil (either olive or canola)
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, yeast, and salt; blend well.
2. Gradually add warm water and 2 Tablespoons oil to flour mixture. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
3. Stir in an additional 1 to 1 ½ cups flour by hand until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
4. On a floured surface, knead in ¼ to ½ cup of flour until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rest in a warm place for 10 minutes.
If making pizza-
Heat oven to 450°. Roll dough into a 12-inch circle. Place on a greased 12-inch round pizza pan (you can also use a cookie sheet). Pinch edge of dough to create rim.
Prick dough randomly with a fork. Let rest 10 minutes. Prebake crust for 5 minutes.
Top with sauce, cheese and desired toppings and bake for 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
